Police Impersonator Sought In Rockwall, Greenville And Texarkana

ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) - Rockwall Police say around 8:00 Sunday morning, two people reported being approached by a man impersonating a police officer.

It happened outside the TA Auto Center located at IH 30 and South Goliad Street.

The police impersonator informed the individuals he was with a special task force working narcotic interdiction and needed to search their vehicles.

The first man refused to let the suspect into his truck and the suspect left when the man said he was calling the police.

The impersonator immediately left the sight of the first victim and went to the truck of the second victim who was asleep. The police impersonator displayed a badge and ordered a victim to move to the passenger seat while he entered the the victim's vehicle. After being questioned about the small 2-way radio and the authenticity of the suspect, the victim told the suspect to get out of his vehicle. The impersonator grabbed the victim's wallet and pushed the victim back against the passenger door.

The suspect left in a gold or tan Nissan, possibly a Sentra.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early to mid 30s, 5'9" - 6'00", 200-240 pounds, clean cut (one said mustache the other was unsure), well spoken, wearing a dark brown shirt and light tan cargo style pants with a black baseball style cap with "POLICE" written on it.

Similar incidents have been reported in Greenville and Sulphur Springs along IH-30.

Late Monday afternoon, the Greenville Police Department posted a photo of the suspect on their Facebook page: The person seen in this photo, provided through the Texarkana PD Facebook page, is a suspect in impersonating a police officer and several robberies along the I-30 corridor from the DFW area to Texarkana. The suspect is possibly traveling with another person in a gold Nissan Altima with Arkansas license plates.
