Police Drop Investigation Of Daystar Blackmail Claim

DALLAS (AP) - The North Texas police department looking into Daystar Television Network's allegations of extortion by three former employees has dropped its investigation.

Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Kirk Roberts said Thursday that the suburban Dallas-area agency also consulted with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office before determining "there does not appear to be any criminal conduct under the Texas Law."

Roberts says the police department ended its investigation.

A spokeswoman for the Bedford-based Christian TV network says they are in the process of preparing a response.

A former employee sued the company and founder Rev. Marcus Lamb last week after Lamb and his wife told their television audience three people who knew about an affair he had were trying to blackmail them for $7.5 million.
