Affidavit: Man Killed, Stashed Body And Partied In Victim's Home
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection to the death of Norma Kakacek, 71, of Dallas.
Michael McClendon, 45, of Dallas was booked into the Dallas County Jail on charges of capital murder and drug possession. His bail is set at $550,000.
Police were called to Kakacek's home in the 7300 block of Paldao Drive on Wednesday morning. They found her dead inside; having suffered stab wounds to her neck.
Kacacek's Lexus SUV was missing from the home. A break in the case that stunned the quiet North Dallas neighborhood happened on September 14 when a tipster told police where her stolen SUV was.
They arrested the driver, 37-year-old Reginald Taylor of Dallas, on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. He being held at the Dallas County Jail, with bail set at $250,000.
Taylor told police McClendon picked him and two other women up and took them to his "aunt's" house. McClendon even had a key to the back door and gave them a tour of Kakacek's home, saying he was house sitting. He told them the side of the house closest to the garage was off limits.
Kakacek was found dead in that part of the home by her son days later.
All four drank and smoked weed for a few hours before Taylor and McClendon left to buy more weed, according to the affidavit.
Friends, neighbors and family members remember Kakacek as kind person who loved walking her dogs every morning.
