ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - An Arlington Independent School District employee is charged with possession of child pornography, police said Thursday.

George Spencer McKee, 56, of Arlington, has worked at Boles Junior High School as a campus technology manager since May 2014, according to Arlington police.

Investigators said a thumb drive was found at the Arlington ISD Administration Building after a recent meeting, and another district employee, in an effort to locate the owner of the thumb drive, viewed the contents on the device, finding what appeared to be pornographic images of children. Police determined it was McKee's thumb drive and executed an arrest warrant at his home Thursday morning. McKee was charged with possession of child pornography with bail set at $5,000 and remains in the Arlington Jail.

Arlington ISD sent the following statement to CBS11 News:

Earlier today, the Arlington ISD was made aware that George McKee was arrested by the Arlington Police Department. He was immediately terminated when his name was provided to the district. McKee was a campus technology manager, not a teacher, at Boles Junior High and had extremely limited contact with students. The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance. When McKee was hired the Arlington ISD followed all applicable law with regard to a criminal records background check and conducted reference checks. We continue to cooperate fully with the APD. Anyone with information is urged to contact APD Detective G. Savage at 817-795-9992 ext. 146.

McKee has also served in various roles with the Boy Scouts of America. While still in the early stages of the investigation, authorities said they don't believe that any of the images found on the thumb drive portray current AISD students or children that he may have come into contact through his employment at Boles Jr. High or his association with Boy Scouts of America.

Scout Executive with the Boy Scouts of America, John Coyle sent the following statement to CBS11 News:

Let me start by saying that the behavior included in these allegations is abhorrent, unacceptable, and runs counter to everything for which the Boy Scouts of America stands.  At this time, while these allegations appear to be unrelated to Scouting, we have removed this individual from Scouting and precluded him from any further participation in the program.

I can tell you that during this individual's time with Scouting, he served as an adult leader.

Youth protection is of paramount importance to the BSA and our policies require that adults, whether volunteers or employees, use "two-deep leadership", which means that a registered adult leader and at least one other adult be present at all trips and outings.  No one-on-one contact is permitted outside of view of other adults and youth.

Both the Arlington Independent School District and Boy Scouts of America are cooperating with investigators.
