PLANO (CBS11) – It may have come off as an insult, but Real House Wives of Dallas star, LeeAnne Locken says her comments were taken out of context.
During a scene on the season premiere of the show, Locken seemed to be annoyed by some immature behavior from her other cast mates.
Her response to them carrying on was, "It's a little Plano in here."
Her words sparked social media criticism from Plano residents who felt snubbed by her words.
That attention then led to fun-filled feud where the City of Plano fired back.
The city's Marketing and Community Engagement Director, Shanna Hayley addressed the comments with a clever marketing idea.
"I noticed our businesses and citizens saying it's a little Plano here and we like it," says Hayley.
So, she decided to start printing the phrase on shirts.
"I thought reality TV is silly and I think it's a perfect time for a silly response," said Hayley.
Locken was at City Hall on Wednesday meeting with Plano's Mayor Harry LaRosiliere to talk about the backlash and clear the air about what she said.
Locken released a statement saying:
"I love the city of Plano! I worked for the city for 10 years hosting a TV show. The comment was completely taken out of context and everyone who knows me knows how I feel about this beautiful city and amazing people of Plano!"
Locken who was the face of Plano television long before she was a House Wife star says her comment was a play on words and not directed as an insult to a city she is fond of.
