ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Police investigating the shooting death of Carl Wilson, 18, said they believe there's evidence of the crime.

"We believe somewhere that someone probably has video," said Kennedale Police Chief Tommy Williams.

Wilson was killed Monday night after a minor argument at school between students escalated and outsiders got involved. Officer Williams said between 15 and 20 young people came to the area where Wilson was gunned down in the middle of Treepoint Drive.

"We don't know what they expected to see," said Officer Williams. "It's not unusual for young  people to video fights and different activities."

What police believe the crowd ended up seeing and possibly recording… was Wilson's murder. And in the chaos that ensued, officers may have missed out on important witnesses.

"The officers were trying to gain control of the scene and may have inadvertently asked several of the witnesses to leave," said Officer Williams.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything that night – Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 – to please come forward.

Anyone who has video evidence of the crime may email it to JCharbonnet@cityofkennedale.com anonymously.

Wilson's family has set up the Carl Wilson Jr. Memorial Fund at Affiliated Bank located at 2326 W Pleasant Ridge Rd, Arlington, TX 76015.
