PD: Husband Killed Estranged Wife While Children Inside Home

FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - Less than 24 hours after a deadly shooting police in Flower Mound have arrested a man for killing his estranged wife in the family home.

Fifty-year-old Daniel Fink is in custody, charged with murder.

Police say Aide Fink was at her home, in the 3300 block of Heather Glen Drive, when she was shot several times. The woman was treated at the scene, but died later at a local hospital.

The couple's three children, ranging in age from seven to 16-years-old, were in the house when she was shot. The oldest child, a 16-year-old, was the one who called police.

Neighbor Brian Freed told CBS 11 News, "You just feel shock when you wake up and a neighbor that you have known for several years… a good family is not a family anymore."

According to police, Daniel Fink works for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection section of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Court records show Aide Fink filed for divorce in August -- a move neighbors say she had mixed emotions about. The documents also show the mother had asked for sole custody of the three children.

Authorities told CBS 11 they have responded to calls at the Fink home before, but have no record of charges resulting from any of the calls.

According to a court docket, the Finks were scheduled for a temporary restraining order hearing this morning.

Neighbors say even though the relationship was strained, they never thought Daniel Fink would resort to violence.

"We talked, did some things together, but I never would suspected this," Freed said. "You don't know how somebody is when you're not around them. I wouldn't have suspected this."

Police say the couple's three children are physically alright and in the care of family members.
