Outlook On Storms For North Texas
COUPLE CHANCES OF RAIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS…
A strong upper level disturbance over the 4 corners region of the SW United States is slowly moving into the Central Plains. This low will be responsible for two opportunities for rain over the next 48 hours. A warm front will lift northward across North Texas this evening and tonight. This will provide the focus for showers and thunderstorms overnight. Severe weather is not likely but there could be some noisy storms producing lots of lightning and some heavy rain. Can't rule out a few hailers, but the severe threat will be relatively low tonight.
TOMORROW…
Lingering showers and thunderstorms will be with us to start the morning then it will stay partly to mostly cloudy thru the midday hours. It will be another mild day with temperatures in the mid to low 70s!
SECOND ROUND OF STORMS ARRIVES TOMORROW EVENING…
A cold front will move into the area tomorrow evening and that will generate thunderstorms as it moves into the area. These storms have a higher potential to be strong and severe. We are under a slight risk for severe weather tomorrow afternoon and evening and tomorrow night. This does not look like a widespread severe weather event as most of the upper level forcing will remain in Oklahoma and Kansas. But a few storms could become severe with the timeframe here in the DFW area between about 8pm and 1am. Damaging winds will be the main severe weather threat with a secondary hail threat. You can never rule out an isolated tornado with severe storms, but the atmosphere at this time does not appear to be terribly favorable for tornadoes.
COOLER FOR THE WEEKEND…
Showers and thunderstorms will likely linger in our eastern counties Friday night into Saturday morning. It will turn cooler behind the front on Saturday. It will be breezy with a mix of sun and clouds and a high near 60 degrees on Saturday. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and cool with a high of only 54.
