1 Person Killed, 17 Hurt After Greyhound Bus Accident In Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — UPDATED: 12/21/1015, 11:45 AM - Arlington authorities say there will not be any charges filed on the driver of the Greyhound bus. They are still awaiting toxicology reports on the deceased driver of the SUV.
One person has been killed and 17 hurt after a Greyhound bus crash early Sunday on I-30.
The accident was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-30 near Collins Street, not far from AT&T Stadium. A caller reported that an SUV had been driving erratically before crashing into the concrete divider that separates the HOV lane from the main lanes, Arlington police said. Then a second call came in saying a Greyhound bus had collided with the disabled SUV sitting in the left lane.
One person in the SUV died, and the other was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, police said. Of the approximately 40 people on the bus, 16 were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
MedStar, the Fort Worth-based medical emergency service, sent its am-bus to the scene, a vehicle normally reserved for mass casualty incidents, officials said.
The freeway was closed for hours as police and emergency responders tended to the injured and worked to investigate the crash.
Arlington police are continuing to investigate.
