Rain Chances Before The Weekend

NICE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS THEN SOME RAIN CHANCES…

What a great day today!  Lots of sunshine, light winds, low humidity!  High today at DFW was 83.  It will be a cool night with temperatures dropping into the 50s area wide.  Thursday will be pleasant as well, but we will probably see some high and mid-level clouds arrive in the afternoon and evening.  Temperatures will top out in the low 80s again tomorrow.

RAIN CHANCES FOR FRIDAY…

An upper level low will move into Texas on Thursday and generate showers and thunderstorms in the southern and western part of the state on Thursday.  By Friday that upper level low will be moving thru Central Texas.  The track of this low south of us is pretty unusual for this time of year.  Usually upper level lows in the middle of May would track more over Oklahoma than Central Texas.  The track of the low will heavily influence how much rain we see on Friday.

If the track remains south most of the rain will be in Central and South Texas.  Thunderstorms will develop in the this area and likely suck up all the moisture before it has a chance to reach us in North Texas.  This would really limit our rain chances.

If the track of the upper level low is a little farther north we would be in store for soaking rains that would persist thru most of the day.

As of right now, the southerly track looks to be the favored solution.  This would put the highest coverage of rain south of I-20 Friday into Friday night.  With that said, there will likely be times where some of that rain makes it up to the Dallas/Fort Worth area on Friday and then again on Saturday morning.  Temperatures on Friday with the cloud cover and possible rain will only make it into the mid 70s.

FRIDAY NIGHT BASEBALL ON TXA 21…

Of course the game of the year, so far, is this Friday on TXA 21 as the Rangers take on the Angels with Yu Darvish and CJ Wilson pitching.  It will be possible that rain will be near and around the Ballpark Friday evening.  The hope is that the rain will remain to our south and no rain will fall during the game.  That solution could play out, but it is going to be very close.

SATURDAY…

Lingering rain looks possible on Saturday with temperatures in the 70s.

SUNDAY…

Partly sunny and pleasant with a high near 80.

NO HEAT IN THE FORECAST…
A reinforcing shot of cooler air will arrive on Monday of next week.  Right now I am not putting any rain chances in the forecast for Monday but it is something we may have to add if the moisture can return in time for Monday.  Regardless, more pleasant May weather is expected thru most of next week!
