KILLEEN (AP) — Killeen police say they are investigating after an off-duty officer restrained a 9-year-old boy at an elementary school.

Police said they initiated the investigation after minor injuries were seen on the child after the Friday incident. Police say the investigation will determine whether the injuries occurred during the incident, and under what circumstances. The off-duty Killeen officer is on administrative leave pending the investigation's results.

Police say the officer was at Bellaire Elementary School on personal business. After hearing a disturbance in a classroom, the officer gained control of the child causing the disturbance.

Police say as the officer and a faculty member escorted the child to the principal's office, the boy began to resist and the officer restrained him.
