North Texas Warming Up before Strong Cold Front gives us a Chilly Weekend

STRAY SHOWER POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING...

A stray shower will be possible this afternoon and this evening mainly east of the I-35W corridor including Collin and Dallas County.  Coverage will be low, but a stray shower will be possible.

PLEASANT WEATHER FOR NEXT FEW DAYS...

There will be a nice little warm up the next few days as winds turn to the south tomorrow.  Tonight will be a cool night as temperatures drop into the upper 50s.  But tomorrow with lots of sunshine and a wind becoming breezy out of the south at 10-20 mph will be warmer with highs in the mid 80s.  Thursday will be our warmest day with some locations warming in the low 90s!
COLD FRONT COMING...

A cold front will stall out along the Red River Thursday night into Friday morning.  The front will stall along the Red River during the day on Friday before pushing south Friday night.  There is still a little uncertainty about where the front will stall.  This could have a huge impact on temperatures.  Right now on Friday it looks like we will be south of the front in DFW.  That means we will be in the 80s Friday afternoon.  But north of the front temperatures will only be in the 50s!  That could include areas along the Red River, but more than likely those areas in farther north into Oklahoma.  There could be a shower or thunderstorm Friday evening as the front starts to push southward.  Coverage won't be very high.  The front will then move south Friday night and clear Dallas/Fort Worth by Saturday morning.  This will make for a cold Saturday.
CHILLY, WET SATURDAY... 50s IN THE AFTERNOON!

Temperatures Saturday morning will start in the 60s as the front clears the area.  Winds will increase out of the north and clouds will be with us.  Temperatures will actually fall into the 50s Saturday afternoon!  I do expect to see some light rain showers on Saturday behind the front.  That combined with the breezy winds will make for one of the coldest days we have seen since March!

SUNDAY...

There will still be some clouds around on Sunday, and temperatures will be cool.  Morning lows will be near 50 degrees with afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
ANIMATION OF COLD FRONT ARRIVING...

Here is an animation showing temperatures and the cold front for Thursday thru Saturday.  Note the temperatures in the 50s by Saturday afternoon.
