DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -  Last week's winter blast did more than just drop the bottom out of North Texas thermometers. Crews are back out filling what seems to be bottomless number of potholes.

One in Dallas on Forest Lane was so bad it witnesses said it damaged more than a half dozen vehicles, including flattening all four tires on one man's BMW.

The rut there was so big; police officers were called in to place construction cones and block traffic until street crews could make it out to fix it.

Potholes are opening up faster than Dallas crews can fix them. Working 14-hour shifts all week, including weekends, crews set out to repair as many of the craters as possible.

The potholes also have many tow truck drivers working overtime.

Zack Miller with Graham's Wrecker Service said been busier this week with picking up vehicle damaged by potholes than he was when all the roads were covered in ice.

"It's been non-stop since last Thursday [with] people's tires blowing out. They're calling us, telling us to come and get them," he explained.

Problems have only been exasperated, because for the past couple of days due to the weather city crews have had to repair some of the potholes with a cold asphalt mixture. The remedy is said to be only a temporary fix.

As The City of Dallas said under the Texas Tort Claims Act the city is not liable for vehicle damage caused by potholes.
