FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A vigil is set tonight for a North Texas firefighter who was killed in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend. Trevor Gage of White Settlement was riding his motorcycle on Saturday afternoon when he was hit by the driver of a pickup truck.
Gage died Sunday from his injuries. The 30-year-old firefighter leaves behind a wife and three children, including a 2-year-old son with special needs, named Hunter. Gage has been a firefighter in White Settlement for the past nine years.
Police continue to look for the vehicle that struck Gage, believed to be a black Ford F-150 Super Crew with heavy damage to its right side. Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for such a vehicle and its driver, who took fled from the scene after hitting Gage.
Meanwhile, folks across North Texas are stepping in to help Gage's family. More than $6,000 has already been raised through a GoFundMe page. And the firefighter's friends and family members are spreading the details on Facebook and Twitter using hashtags like #ToughLikeTrevor.
A prayer vigil is set for 8:00 p.m. on Monday night in the White Settlement Recreation Center parking lot. Everybody is asked to bring candles to light as the group remembers Gage and supports his family.
