North Texas Couple May Have Caught A Falling Star
Roanoke, Texas (1080 KRLD) - Chances are you've made a wish on a falling star, but a North Texas couple wonders if they actually caught one.
Wayne and Darla Jansa were driving to their home in Roanoke on Friday night when Darla looked out the car window and told her husband to look at what she spotted in the sky.
"I was looking out and it looked like a big fireball." said Wayne. "We saw it actually fuzz out. All of the sudden you see these sparks."
North Texas couple may have caught a falling star
The next day they went on a search to where they thought the object landed, a field across from the Roanoke Recreation Center at Hwy 377 and Byron Nelson Road. After an extensive search, they found something.
"It was just like a big, blob of metal...melted metal that was right by my foot." said Wayne. "We found it right before we started to give up."
They put a magnet on it, and the magnet stuck. Now, they are taking it to Astronomy experts at Texas Christian University to determine if the object may be a meteorite.
Other drivers from across North Texas also reported seeing the meteor. Some even got evidence of it on video.
