North Texas Cities Could Face Tighter Watering Restrictions

RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The North Texas Municipal Water District will vote Thursday on tighter restrictions that could limit watering to once every two weeks.
The district, which is comprised of 13 cities and 1.6 million residents, currently allows watering once per week.
But with winter approaching and water tables still low, the district is expected to push for the tighter restrictions.
Most of North Texas is in the midst of a four-year drought. And after the driest fall on record, the area is 11.5 inches below normal for the year.
Lake Lavon, the district's primary water supply, is at just 47-percent capacity.
The NTMWD member cities are Allen, Farmersville, Forney, Frisco, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Plano, Princeton, Richardson, Rockwall, Royse City, and Wylie.
