COLLEYVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Residents in Colleyville can resume normal water use on Friday after crews were able to repair a broken water distribution line from the Trinity River Authority. The leak was discovered Thursday and forced the city to issue a warning against outdoor watering and other heavy water use.
Workers were able to locate the problem on Thursday evening and repairs went through the overnight hours. Crews first had to pump water from a 12-foot hole and install safety materials before work could begin. The entire process was completed on Friday morning and water started flowing through the line again.
Full restoration to pre-incident status will still take another day, but the city said that normal water use could begin again. Of course, they always encourage water conservation. The city thanked residents for their voluntary compliance in limiting their water use, as the water storage levels never dropped to a dangerous degree.
The site of the water line repairs -- Cheek-Sparger Road from Brown Trail to Bedford Road -- will now remain closed until all of the work equipment has been removed.
