Neighborhood Upset Over Radio Tower
Allen neighbors are in an uproar over the city's plans to build a 27-story emergency radio tower and they're not shy about their opinions.
The neighbors in Allen's Silhouette sub-division say they put a lot of time, effort and money into keeping their properties in top shape. But the city says this is about more than land values. It's life-and-death to have an emergency radio tower with full coverage of the whole city.
Allen Fire Chief Bill Hawley says the tower has to go somewhere and where-ever it goes, residents will be unhappy. Hawley says the spot was picked because it is the only spot in town that will give them full city coverage. The Allen City Council could vote on placing the tower Tuesday night.
