Murder Suspect Eric Williams' Defense Team Wants Trial Moved, Again

ROCKWALL, Texas (1080 KRLD) - The team defending former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams against capital murder charges wants the trial moved, again.

Two-and-a-half weeks into individual juror questioning and the defense doesn't like what it's seeing.

Two motions now tell the story.

The first seeks to limit certain media coverage and comments about the upcoming murder trial. The second asks that the location be moved - for a second time.

Judge Mike Snipes allowed the trial to be moved from Kaufman to Rockwall county in January because of publicity and the victims, District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia, were well known in the Kaufman community.

But now the defense claims too many of the prospective jurors know too much about the trial, and William' attorneys are trying to get it moved to yet another county.

Judge Snipes has not set a hearing on either motion.

So far the two sides have agreed on seven jurors to hear testimony - which is scheduled to start December 1, 2014.
