ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) - Laying in the middle of the road with several broken bones and bleeding profusely, a Fort Worth man who was involved in a nasty chain-reaction crash is alive all thanks to a mysterious Good Samaritan.
John Mendez, 27, was involved in a wreck on Monday along North Collins Street in Arlington.
"I just went crazy. I thought it was going to be the worst," said Vivian Bracero, the victim's mother.
Mendez has a broken nose, shattered bones in his face, but is recovering because of a woman he calls his "guardian angel."
"She's an angel. She's an angel because if it wasn't for her, I don't know what would have happened to him," said Bracero.
All her son remembers is waking up in the middle of North Collins Street to the sound of a young woman's voice.
She dragged Mendez to safety and out of the busy road until help could arrive.
"She was there and then after that, he didn't see her ever again," said Bracero.
Wanting to thank the woman who saved her son, Bracero is hoping speaking out about the incident will lead her to the "guardian angel."
"Nobody would do that. In this time? No, no. She's unique," said Bracero. "I thank the Lord that she was there, that she's an angel and I wish her the best."
Bracero said doctors will soon be operating on her son's face where they will have to put in a metal plate in his upper cheeks.
