PRINCETON (CBSDFW.COM) -- A mother and daughter were injured in a house fire on Monday morning in Princeton that authorities believe started near a Christmas tree.
The fire occurred around 8:45 a.m. in the 400 block of Oxford Lane.
A neighbor tells CBS 11 that an adult female and her teenaged daughter -- both residents of the burning home -- knocked on his door asking for help.
According to the fire marshal, the mother was taken by ground ambulance to Parkland Hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. The daughter was also transported to Parkland by an Air Medical Helicopter. Both are expected to survive.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire for more than an hour, noting that shotgun shells stored in the garage exploded several times.
