ARLINGTON (CBS11) — The woman charged with manslaughter for the crash that killed her daughter and sent her other three kids to the hospital walked out of jail Sunday night.

Valencia Freeman faces multiple charges after police say she drove drunk and slammed her car into a utility pole Saturday.

The children's father tells CBS11 Freeman headed to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth as soon as she bonded out of jail, so she could be with her surviving children. We're told their conditions are improving, but the family still has a difficult road ahead.

The little pink bike neighborhood children say belonged to 5-year-old Deunna Fairchild hangs on her front porch ready for her to ride again. Her death has left those closest to her devastated.

Family friend Melissa Davis and her kids are very close to Freeman's children.

"They come by here every day looking in the window, 'Can your kids come out?'" Davis said.

The family tells us Fairchild's twin brother and her two older siblings continue to improve, but have remained hospitalized since Saturday's crash.

Freeman faces one count of intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault. Public records show she has been previously cited for failing to secure children in the car, and police tell CBS11 they do not believe any of the children were wearing seat belts Saturday.

It's something Davis says she can't believe.

"She's a really nice person. She doesn't do anything to hurt her kids," Davis said.

Child Protective Services confirms they are investigating the case. Now loved ones can only hope for the best for Freeman and her children.

"I love her kids to death, and I love her too, and I pray that she can come out with her head strong and somehow, someway eventually get through it," Davis said.

A family member tells CBS11 now that Freeman is out of jail, she plans to speak publicly about the crash in the days ahead.

Fairchild was a kindergarten student at Thornton Elementary School. Counselors will be available at the school on Monday, an Arlington Independent School District spokeswoman said.
