More Rain and Temps in the 30s Later this Week in DFW

Is anyone tired of the clouds and rain?  We have to get thru tonight and most of tomorrow morning until the rain ends.  But the end of the rain will usher in some cold temperatures.

LOOPING RADAR

Scattered showers will continue for much of the evening, but there will be times of dry weather this evening.

A cold front will start to move into the western sections of North Texas around Midnight. As of 4pm, that front is located back over the Panhandle.

RAIN TONIGHT WITH THE FRONT

Showers and perhaps a thunderstorm will develop along the front and then move eastward toward daybreak.  I expect the cold front to pass thru DFW between about 6am and 8am.  That window of time is when we have the chance to see the heaviest of the rain and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm.  No severe weather is expected.

HOW MUCH MORE RAIN

In general we are probably looking at around .50" more overnight into tomorrow morning.  Some areas a little more, some a little less.  Below is the model comparison of rainfall estimates for tonight and tomorrow morning.

NORTH TEXAS LAKE LEVELS

TURNING CHILLY WEDNESDAY

There will likely be some lingering light rain during the morning hours on Wednesday behind the front, but rain should end by the afternoon.  But gusty north winds and temps in the 50s will put a chill in the air for much of the day on Wednesday.

30's AND 40's FOR THURSDAY MORNING

Temperatures will drop into the 30s and low 40s for most areas early Thursday morning.  There could be a light frost for areas north and northwest of the metro.  Here are the lows I am expecting for Thursday morning.
