Monday Morning Meltdown: Cowboys Expose Seahawks In Seattle

By Cory Mageors | @inthemageors

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Just like we said all week on the K&C Masterpiece -- whether it was our guests, Bryan Broaddus and Brandon Carr -- or us, that game was going to take a team effort.

Over and over again we dropped the names Lance Dunbar, Joseph Randle, Gavin Escobar, Cole Beasley and Jason Witten. Those guys made huge third down plays; they changed the game in what I like to call the soft spots of the Seattle defense. That enabled Demarco Murray to punish when he was in the game, and Dez to get a couple of nifty grabs, and even Terrance Williams to make two big catches.

Those guys extended drives for the Cowboys, scored big touchdowns and helped keep the Seattle defense off balance.

Here's the scary part: what if Scott Linehan can do that every week?

How good do you think this team can be if it spreads 250 yards around to 8 different recievers week in and out, and have Murray and Randle rushing 167 yards against teams that allow 62 rushing yards on average.

This team has just begun to scratch the surface of what they can do offensively.

On defense. Good job. (Trying not to sound too overexcited so they don't get a big head).

So Dallas is 5-1, but guess who else is too, the Eagles.

Yeah Philly shutout the Giants, who can't decide if they are a good team or just wearing pads and running around. Losing Victor Cruz hurts, but Philly was stacking the box and forcing the Giants to throw…and the Giants wouldn't throw. They stayed in a stubborn run first game even when they were down by 21. That's fine, but while the Eagles tossed the ball around, we saw Lesean McCoy wake up to the tune of 149 yards.

Speaking of waking up, hi Tom Brady! The Bills can't stop a good quarterback and they made Tom Brady look elite again. Give the guy an open receiver and he'll hit you up for 4 TD's. Brady now has 60 regular season 300-yard passing games in his career, joining Peyton Manning (86), Drew Brees (81), Dan Marino (63) and Brett Favre (62). Tony Romo has 45 if you were wondering.

Not far behind is Aaron Rodgers (35) who played a tough game against the Miami Dolphins to win 27-24 on the last few seconds with an end zone strike to Andrew Quarless. There were times when Rodgers was the "only guy who could make that throw", other times when he looked like the "consummate calm corporal" leading his team on long marches down the field.

Then there were times when he looked flustered and couldn't find anybody open because of Miami's coverage. But when it mattered most, he marched the team down the field for 68 yards and a field goal and 60 yards and a touchdown to win. Oh yea, Jordy Nelson -- 9 catches, 107 yards and a TD on 16 targets.

If you saw this Cleveland Browns team doing this with Brian Hoyer, please raise your hand, and then put it back down because you're lying!!!! You really have to credit Johnny Cleveland though.

Joe Flacco proved he can still find receivers in the end zone with 5 TD's in the first half. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, the Buccaneers are not good at pass defense. Even still, multiple targets of Flacco's with Steve Smith heading things up, Torrey Smith will only find more space deep.

And last but not least, Peyton Manning hits Julius Thomas for two touchdowns against the Jets and finished the game with three total TD passes, leaving him three away from breaking Favre's record. Do you think he is like "dang why didn't I ask for a big mountain of a tight end who can run, jump and catch earlier in my career?" Nah it's Peyton Freaking Manning he could throw to a bunch of 6-year-olds and be competitive.

Don't believe me check this out.
