DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Dallas Mavericks have officially announced the signing of free agent guard Monta Ellis. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy.
The 6-3 Ellis has played eight years in the NBA with Golden State and Milwaukee, averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 36.0 minutes per game.
Last season, Ellis started 82 games for the Bucks, averaging 19.2 points on 41.6-percent shooting.
The Mississippi-native was drafted out of high school with the 40th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by Golden State.
He was named the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2007 and has averaged at least 19.0 points in the past six seasons.
The Mavs came to a verbal agreement with Ellis nearly two weeks back, but have since been working the specifics of the three-year deal.
Reports suggest the deal could be worth as much as $30 million.
