FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A man's body discovered in the Trinity River on Wednesday morning is that of Edgar Castro, a kayaker who was reported missing over the weekend, according to Fort Worth Firefighters.

The discovery was made at around 8:15 a.m. in the 4100 block of Idlewild Drive, the same area where the Castro went missing.  He was kayaking with a friend when their boat overturned on Saturday morning. The friend made it to safety, but Castro could not be found.

Emergency crews with the Fort Worth Police Department and the Fort Worth Fire Department had been searching the water for days -- including river banks and spillways -- for any sign of Castro, including his clothing or backpack. "That's usually where people end up," Fort Worth Fire Battalion Chief Fernando Rojas explained.

Officials called off the search on Monday, while family members continued to look.

Castro's brother found another body in the river while searching on Tuesday near Gateway Park. "It was heartbrekaing. I thought it was my brother-in-law," said Elizabeth Castro. "But it was just another missing soul, just out there waiting to be found."

The body's discovery on Tuesday reignited the search for Castro. Lt. Kyle Faulkner of the Fort Worth Fire Department stated, "The fact that this body was located is an indicator that circumstances are different than they were just even 24 hours ago."
