76-Year-Old Man Arrested In Lewisville Murder

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - An elderly man was arrested at his home in Lewisville on Tuesday night. Police believe that he is responsible for the murder of his wife. Detectives are at the house in the 1600 block of Chisolm Trail combing for evidence. Michael Stolz, 76, is charged with one count of murder, and police said that they are trying to determine the motive as well as the cause of death.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Police said that the victim is Stolz's wife. Her first name has not been released, but police believe that she is in her 40s.

According to Capt. Kevin Deaver, spokesperson for the Lewisville Police Department, police received a call from the woman's employer at about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. He was concerned because Stolz's wife had not shown up for work in two days. When officers knocked at the door, Deaver said that Stolz acted strangely and retreated to a back bedroom, where he barricaded himself inside the home for several hours.

Police in Lewisville called in their SWAT team, and the SWAT team from the Denton County Sheriff's Department assisted. A police department robot was moved into the house. Deaver said that is when they learned the suspect was laying down on the floor. Officers moved in and made the arrest.

Stolz was evaluated at the scene, but was not transported to a hospital. He is now in the Denton County Jail. Deaver said that police located a weapon in the house, but they do not know if it is the murder weapon. The exact cause and time of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

Deaver said that this is the first murder in Lewisville this year.
