MANSFIELD(CBSDFW.COM) - A stand-off in Mansfield's Heather Estates Neighborhood started around 3:15 p.m. Friday after police got a call to check on a man in his home.
Officer William Yale says a loved one of the man called police saying an unstable family member had barricaded himself inside the home. SWAT is on the scene.
As far as police know, no one else is in the house with the man.
Homes surrounding residence evacuated for safety and school buses delayed their drop off time.
Meantime, residents who can't get to their homes are standing outside a police perimeter on Country Club Drive waiting to find out what happens and when they can go home.
Police have a message for folks who want to get to their homes and other neighbors inconvenienced by this active incident, "Please be patient," says Officer William Yale. "It's for everybody's safety."
