FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Heavy rain, strong storms and high winds are expected Friday afternoon and night.
The risk of severe weather is south and southwest of the Metro area. A brief tornado is even possible on Friday afternoon and early evening. The greater risks, however, are from damaging winds and golfball-sized hail.
The rain chances pick up again Friday afternoon and evening. Very strong winds will be the noticed later Friday and late into the night, until a cold front pushes through.
A good morning soaking, but we expect heavier rain to return late Friday and then again with a line of storms overnight.
Right now, it appears that the highest threat of flooding will be in our western counties. Last weekend, the heaviest rain fell across our southeast counties. This is the area most prone to flash flooding later Friday and Friday night, so we will have to watch where the storm line sets up later on.
Big storms and a flash flooding threat overnight teamed with very strong winds. By Saturday morning, almost all of the rain will be east of the Metro area. All of this should be gone by Halloween night. It will be a chilly night to be out, with a brisk northwest wind and temperatures in the low-60s.
We are looking at another round of heavy rain possible at the end of next week. The heat that was around late into the fall this year is gone.
