BURLESON (CBSDFW.COM) - Can't get to the library? In Burleson, the library might just come to you.
The Burleson Public Library is now providing homebound services to citizens in the Burleson city limits who are unable to visit the library.
When a library cardholder qualifies for the new outreach program, library materials will be mailed to them.
Materials will include return postage, and all items will have a 6-week loan period with two renewals available.
According to a news release from the City of Burleson, "Library users can qualify for homebound services if they are generally confined to their residence either temporarily, due to illness or accident, or permanently due to disability, age, or other mobility issues. Anyone applying for homebound services will be interviewed by library staff and must have a Burleson Public Library card in good standing."
Users may call or email the library to request specific titles, or they can request that a librarian select materials based on their reading preferences. They may also request a phoned reference appointment from a librarian for reading suggestions and new titles offered.
"The Burleson Public Library is committed to reaching out and finding ways to provide library services to all members of the community," Heather Huse, library business manager, said. "For some Burleson residents, visiting our physical location is not an option. Our homebound library services program gives us the opportunity to mail library materials directly to homebound individuals of all ages."
There is no fee for homebound library services.
If you or someone you know could benefit from the library's homebound services program, call Heather Huse at 817-426-9210 or email her at hhuse@burlesonlibrary.com.
