SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 10PM FOR AREAS WELL WEST OF DFW
THIS EVENING
Isolated severe storms will be possible in the far western half of North Texas. Large hail and gusty winds the main concern. These storms will weaken as the sun goes down. For the rest of the area spotty showers will be possible, like we have seen thru much of the day.
TONIGHT
Storms will increase in coverage in West Texas tonight and slowly transition eastward overnight. This will bring the best rain chances to the western half of North Texas overnight. A few stronger storms will be possible that may produce hail, but the severe threat overnight is low.
TOMORROW
Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered in the morning with coverage increasing in the afternoon. There is a risk of severe weather. Mainly large hail to 1" and winds to 60 mph. The tornado threat is low but not zero. The rain in the morning may hamper any storms from getting too strong, but a few severe thunderstorm warnings can not be ruled out for our Thursday.
HOW MUCH RAIN
This will NOT be a uniform rain. There will likely be wide ranges in rainfall accumulation from one location to the next. It will all depend on if you get underneath one of the heavier thunderstorms. Below is a map showing what one forecast model is predicting for rainfall. The best thing to take from this map is to see that the heavy rain will really be hit or miss. But if you get hit with the heavy rain you could see over 1" or 2" of rain. Most will not see that much.
