Laredo Dealing With Flooding

Laredo police went door to door to help evacuate low-lying areas as the rain-swollen Rio Grande reached a quadrupled flood stage.
Lt. Ricardo Ramirez says the evacuation of about 30 homes, due to the flooding threat, started at 1 a.m. Thursday.
Ramirez told The Associated Press that no injuries have been reported. Two of Laredo's four bridges to Mexico remained closed.
The Laredo Civic Center was open as a shelter. Ramirez did not have numbers on how many people spent the night.
The National Weather Service says flood stage at the Rio Grande at Laredo is 8 feet. The level topped 34.6 feet early Thursday. The area was under a flash flood watch through Friday.
Gov. Rick Perry has activated Texas National Guard troops in Laredo in San Antonio, plus rescue swimmers.
