TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - With Lake Worth levels at flood stage, there's nowhere for the water to go except over the banks or over the spillway. Friday it was doing both.
"I've been here three years and it's the first time I've seen it like this," said Paul Mogwitz as he stood in knee-deep water 50 yards from his back porch in what normally us his backyard.
Mogwitz and his wife tried to check on their neighbor, Jinx Neff.
"We can't go this way," he said as he stopped at the path leading to the back of her house.
The path to Neff's house was flooded and she was racing to move her possessions.
"I've got to start moving motorcycles and trucks and probably a boat because it's coming up pretty close on that side," Neff said.
There are two questions everyone lakeside has: how high will the water rise and what will they need to clean up when it recedes? Mogwitz thinks the damage to his yard will be easy to fix.
"Just mud until it dries out enough," he said. "And then I will just rake it, mow it a couple of times and it will look okay. But the other people down the road? We just hope they'll be okay."
