Kids Count shows little Child Life Improvement

Conditions for kids in Texas aren't improving so says a new Kids Count report.  The annual Kids Count shows Texas again in the bottom third of states for overall child well being and in some cases things are getting worse.  "More Texas babies are born at low birth weight, more babies are dying before their first birthday and although we have seen an improvement in the teen birth rate we are still the third highest in the country.  We have a lot of areas where we need to see improvement."  Texas Kids Count Director Francis Deviney says what might make things worse are big budget cuts to programs that benefit children.  She says some have already been made and things could get worse when the legislature starts again in January.
