(CBSDFW.COM) - This week we count down the top ten hits of 1981 as determined by Billboard Magazine.

That year, President Reagan took office and later survived an assassination attempt in Washington, DC. Iran releases 52 Americans that had been held hostage since 1979. And Pac-man was the #1 video game in the country.

Below in descending order are the top 10 hits from that year:

10. Keep On Loving You (REO Speedwagon)
9. 9 To 5 (Dolly Parton)
8. I Love A Rainy Night (Eddie Rabbit)
7. Kiss On My List (Hall & Oates)
6. Celebration (Kool & The Gang)
5. Jessie's Girl (Rick Springfield)
4. (Just Like) Starting Over (John Lennon)
3. Lady (Kenny Rogers)
2. Endless Love (Diana Ross & Lionel Richie)

And the #1 song for 1981….."Betty Davis Eyes" by a member of the New Christy Minstrels…………Kim Carnes. It was her only #1 hit and won a Grammy as Record Of The Year.

But there was a group from New York City that had their most successful hit in 1981. A vocal harmony group formed by former Madison Avenue marketing executive named Tim Hauser, they first hit the charts in 1975 with "Operator."

But in the summer of 1981, the group redid a song performed by R&B group The Ad Libs in 1965 and hit #7 on the charts with it. Written by George Davis and John T. Taylor and produced by Jay Graydon, here are The Manhattan Transfer with The Boy From New York City!!
