The May Mailbag

(CBSDFW.COM) - Okay, last week, I promised that I would tell what's on our viewers' mind so I went through the most recent email and letters and here it is:
1. Many of you continue to let us know how you much miss Larry Mowry, our former Chief Meteorologist, who is now with WLS-TV, the ABC Owned and Operated station in Chicago.
2. We had a number of you who provided comments and feedback on the wardrobe of our on-air talent. Some were positive and some not so positive, but all were constructive and we appreciate that very much. We like our news talent to look professional!
3. We received some letters questioning our reasoning behind airing certain types of stories that were either just fluff or just not relevant. Okay, we hear you!!
4. The month of May always brings severe weather and we definitely heard from those who either didn't like us breaking in when we did or failing to provide weather information for their area. We hear you on that and we definitely strive to be first and fast getting weather information to you but above all being accurate to keep you safe!
5. We had a few notes from people upset with us regarding MeTV (KTXA 21.2) where the network changed the picture on its programming to a box with black on the sides. That is coming from the MeTV Network, not us. Most of the programming on MeTV was produced between 1955 and 1990 in standard definition (SD), not high definition (HD). You are seeing an SD picture now on MeTV. Both TV formats have different aspect ratios, or basically the size and shape of the picture. I will say, however, that the MeTV Network is very persnickety that the prints for each episode of shows they air are pristine. Many of them look exactly the same as when they first aired on network television. Also along those lines, we do get email from people who have reception issues picking up KTXA 21.2.
Thanks for your letters and emails and keep 'em coming! See you next time.
