"The Dick Van Dyke Show" Theme... What? Lyrics?

(CBSDFW.COM) - Musical themes for TV shows have been used since the early days of television, especially since TV was first viewed as "radio with pictures."
In so many cases, the musical opening and closing of a TV show is what we remember more than anything else, as well as the lyrics. Some of the music heard over the years are original compositions by artists such as Mike Post, Vic Mizzy, Jerry Goldsmith, and pop music artists such as Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Quincy Jones, and Pete Townshend.
One of my favorite theme songs is from The Dick Van Dyke Show that aired on CBS from 1961-1966. Produced by Carl Reiner (who also starred as Van Dyke's boss, the mercurial Alan Brady) and Sheldon Leonard, the show's theme song was written by Earle Hagen and Morey Amsterdam (Buddy Sorrell). The lyrics go like this:
So you think that you've got troubles?
Well, trouble's a bubble,
So tell old Mr. Trouble to "Get lost!".
Why not hold your head up high and,
Stop cryin', start tryin',
And don't forget to keep your fingers crossed.
When you find the joy of livin'
Is lovin' and givin'
You'll be there when the winning dice are tossed.
A smile is just a frown that's turned upside down,
So smile, and that frown will defrost.
And don't forget to keep your fingers crossed!
Now when I read these lyrics about troubles, I couldn't help but think about Mary Tyler Moore's character, Laura. When anything went wrong, you heard her say hysterically, "Oh, Rob!!!"
There were actually two similar but different music themes. One was for Season 1 only (1961-1962) but the one linked below is the one that is most remembered.
