STEPHENVILLE (CBS 11 NEWS) - Opening statements in what is certain to be one of the country's most watched murder trials are now set to begin on Wednesday.

A jury of 10 women and 2 men have been picked from a pool of hundreds to hear testimony in the murder trial of Eddie Ray Routh.  Two alternates were also selected.  Routh is accused of murdering Navy sniper Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield more than two years ago.

Eddie Routh was in court as lawyers questioned 135 potential jurors.

As the selection process rolled into its third day, attorneys asked potential jurors if they could understand the legal definition of insanity, whether they could make decisions based on evidence and pass judgement on a person.

The employees of Greer's Ranch Cafe had a unique perspective.

"I'm fortunate or unfortunate enough to be right up against the building which is the court. Our back door is their back door," said Phil Greer, from Greer's Ranch Cafe.

The restaurant has seen a huge influx of new faces as hundreds of potential jurors have wandered in to eat. They're bracing for an even bigger rush of media and spectators when the trial starts Wednesday.

"If something comes up as far as we're short on something I have a back up. Somebody who can get more product here if we need to," he said.

When Routh is brought to and from court the restaurant is locked down for security. So far, that's meant days of uncertain schedules and sudden stops in business as Routh comes and goes.

"I think once the trial starts it probably will get into a daily routine and we'll know when the breaks are and when it's over and that sort of thing," said Greer.

CBS 11's Joel Thomas will cover the trial from Stephenville.  Follow him on Twitter for the latest updates.
