Joe Biden Holds Campaign Rally In Dallas, Gets Endorsements From 3 Former Candidates, Then Goes To Whataburger
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Vice President Joe Biden brought some fresh support to his campaign rally at Gilley's Dallas Monday.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who ended her Democratic presidential campaign on Monday, and Pete Buttigieg, who ended his on Sunday, endorsed rival Biden in an effort to unify moderate voters behind the former vice president's White House bid.
Sen. Klobuchar introduced Biden at the rally around 8:40 p.m.
"I cannot think of a better way to end my campaign than joining his," she said.
"It's time for a president who represents all of America," Sen. Klobuchar said. "And it is time for a president who will bring dignity and decency back to the White House."
Beto O'Rourke also said he was endorsing Biden.
Texans, along with voters in 13 other states, cast ballots in the primaries on Super Tuesday, March 3.
"If you'll have my back, I'll have yours," Biden said moments after taking the microphone.
Biden is coming off a convincing victory in South Carolina on Saturday. It was his first primary victory.
"To anyone who has been knocked down, this is your campaign," Biden said.
The crowd got loud when former presidential candidates Klobuchar and O'Rourke took the stage.
Earlier in the evening, Pete Buttigieg backed Biden at a nearby restaurant called the Chicken Scratch.
With Biden at his side, Buttigieg said, "I'm looking for a leader, I'm looking for a president, who will draw out what's best in each of us. We have found that leader in vice president, soon-to-be president, Joe Biden."
The three are hoping their supporters will follow their lead and vote for Biden and help win many states tomorrow and unite the party behind him.
Sen. Sanders leads Biden in the polls, and analysts say the former Vice President needs to win a variety of states like Texas to stay viable.
In a joint interview Monday night, Vice President Biden and Senator Klobuchar told CBS 11's Jack Fink how critical the endorsements are for the race on the eve of Super Tuesday.
When asked if they could become the ticket, President and Vice President, Klobuchar laughed.

During his campaign speech, Biden took a jab at frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination Sen. Bernie Sanders, saying America doesn't want a revolution, but a revival of decency.
At the end of his speech, he welcomed former Texas U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke and his wife, Amy onto the stage.
"Tomorrow, March 3rd, 2020, I will be casting my ballot for Joe Biden," O'Rourke said. "We need somebody who can beat Donald Trump."
O'Rourke then told Biden and his wife, Jill, he was taking them to Whataburger after the rally.

Also on Tuesday Mike Bloomberg will be on the ballot for the first time after spending $500 million on TV ads.
Biden is hoping Bloomberg's investment won't pay off.
