It's Been a Gray February
If you've been kind of gloomy during February, it may be because it's been a pretty cloudy month so far. It was predominately cloudy during the month of December...in January we had quite a bit more sunshine..but now we're back to more cloudy daytime hours than sunny daytime hours.
One of the more apparent reasons for this is the Madden-Julian Oscillation. It has been more active recently after being quiet in January. This usually leads to more storm systems affecting the southern United States, despite the presence of La Nina.
