DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas County Sheriff's Office prisoner who escaped from Parkland Hospital late Wednesday morning has been captured.
According to the Sheriff's Office, 47-year old Anna Marie Cardella was apprehended and taken into custody by deputies around 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
Cardella had been remotely booked into the Dallas County Jail from Parkland on October 22. She faced several charges, including Driving With a Suspended License and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
She was at the hospital for a non-specified medical condition. While an officer had been assigned to watch her, Cardella was in an isolation area, so the officer was not in the room.
According to officials, Cardella was able to walk away from the facility just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Initially Dallas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Raul Reyna said, "She had access to her street clothes, so I don't know if she was in her gown or in her street clothes, because since she never made it to the Dallas County Jail she never received an inmate jumpsuit or anything like that."
After Reyna made that statement officials were able to access video of Cardella leaving the hospital and sent out the picture below.
Sheriff's officials say investigators talked with a person on Wednesday who said they would contact police if they had any contact with Cardella. That person later called authorities and told them the woman was at the Shady Oaks Motel on Fort Worth Avenue. Officers reportedly went to the hotel, found Cardella and arrested her without incident.
No word on if she was transported back to Parkland Hospital or taken to the Dallas County Jail.
