Imposter Accused Of Killing Then Selling Man's Home Faces Murder Charge

OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) - The man suspected of selling a Kessler Stevens house by posing as its dead owner was charged with murder today.

Christopher Brian Colbert, 43, was arrested in Los Angeles, California the first week of March.

He's is still in custody on charges of Tampering with Governmental Record, Securing Executing of Document by Deception and Money Laundering.

In September, 57-year-old Ronald Shumway's remains were found in the side yard of his home, in the 700 block of North Winnetka Avenue, near West Davis Street. Neighbors had not seen Shumway since April 2015.

Colbert's bond is $150, 000.
