Humid Start, Some Storms Later

Hot and humid weather has returned to north Texas after a nice break from it this weekend. Highs today will top out in the mid-90's with dewpoints in the 70's.

Storms are in the forecast this afternoon though it looks like most of the activity will remain to the north and northwest of the metro area:

These storms are coming from a weak distrubance coming out of the Permian basin. We are expecting severe weather but will likely get some frequent lighting and brief heavy rain with these cells:

We'll watch on Wednesday to see if a complex of storms from Oklahoma ride into our northern counties on a northwest flow aloft. Otherwise high pressure builds right overhead as we start August, this brings in some hot and dry conditions:
