Hot & Humid Into The Weekend, Milder Next Week
MORE HOT WEATHER..WITH JUST A CHANCE OF STORMS THIS WEEKEND
Our weather pattern will remain one similar to that of late May or early June as temperatures during the night stay in the 70s and highs climb into the 90s. South winds will continue to keep things breezy and humid as well.
We have been under the influence of an upper level ridge of high pressure for the past few days...that ridge will start to weaken over the weekend and allow tiny disturbances to ride in from the southwest. At the surface, the dryline will become active over West Texas as these disturbance move overhead. Storms will fire up along the dryline and try to push east but should weaken as they do so. There still should be a decent cap over the eastern half of North Texas to prevent much in the way of storms. However, the western half of North Texas, closer to the dryline will have to watch for a few thunderstorms both Friday and Saturday evenings. The Storm Prediction Center has issued SLIGHT RISKS for severe weather over the regions west of I-35W for both Friday and Saturday. We're not expecting a widespread outbreak of severe storms, but the ones that do form could quickly produce strong winds and large hail.
NOT AS HOT STARTING LATE SUNDAY INTO NEXT WEEK
A cold front should enter our area late Sunday and linger over the area through the first part of next week. There will be a slight chance for storms areawide with this front in the area, but right now rain chances look to stay on the small side Sunday through Tuesday. One computer model we examine, the European model, is showing cooler temps and drier weather overall...while the GFS model is showing a bit warmer temperatures and wetter overall. There has been quite a bit of this type of model disagreement over next week's forecast. We do think it will be not as hot...and there will be a chance of rain each day..especially by the middle and end of next week as a large low pressure system moves our way.
TORNADO OUTBREAK ONE MONTH AGO TODAY
Chief Meteorologist Larry Mowry will be live today at 4, 5, and 6p from Lancaster, one of the hardest hit locations on April 3rd when 17 tornadoes ripped across North Texas. Larry will also bring us stories from other North Texas cities hit by tornadoes that day and how residents and citizens are coping and what struggles remain. Here's the map of all the tornadoes that hit one month ago today.
