Dallas Horseshoe Project Creates Traffic Mess For Drivers

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -Drivers trying to maneuver around construction on the Horseshoe Project on the Mixmaster are starting to feel the pent up frustrations of construction delays.

And Saturday night was a doozy as I-30 eastbound was completely closed at Riverfront Blvd.

"Oh man!" exclaimed motorist Henry Johnson. "This is a big mess around here! All the construction everywhere it's got people running over people and people driving crazy and cutting you off!"

Johnson just had a run in with the frustrated, aggressive driving construction backups can cause.

"This car just cut me off and jumped in front of me," he complained.

And traffic doesn't get much more frustrating than Saturday night. Even side roads are at a standstill.

The project that promises to make the mix master faster had brought it to a halt.

They diverted traffic onto 35E, merged it onto Woodall Rogers, then steered cars onto 345 south bound back onto I-30.

The best idea was too avoid the area altogether.

Crews hoped to be through with the work my 6 a.m. Sunday morning unless weather caused delays.  That might require shutting the interstate down again Sunday night.
