CHEYNEY, Pa (CBSDFW/AP) - A Pennsylvania horse that was lifted to safety by a crane after getting stuck in the mud earlier this month has a new home on a Virginia farm.
Rescuers pulled Cyrus the 18-year-old Clydesdale from the mud at Thornbury Farm Stables near Philadelphia about two weeks ago, according to CBS 3.
The 1,700 pound horse glided gently in the air, over to a field with vets waiting. A crowd of a few dozen people watched silently.
"He was probably chased by one of the other big horses and scared and ran into the mud," said Penny Parker, the barn manager.
Parker told The Philadelphia Inquirer the 18-year-old Cyrus was upset after the rescue operation and didn't calm down until another horse, Ghost, was brought in to keep him company.
Parker says it would be traumatic to separate the pair now, so Ghost will be joining Cyrus with his new family in Virginia.
Cyrus left Pennsylvania for Virginia on Saturday.
