FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - It was a slice of Americana right in the heart of Fort Worth's urban setting.

Neighbors from Ryan Place and Fairmount neighborhoods gathered for a traditional Fourth of July celebration on their own streets.

Families of all ages lined the streets to take in the sights, sounds and Independence Day cheer.

There was a parade, a splash down from a fire truck, and a softball game billed as a neighborhood grudge match between the residents.

Bernie Schefler who lives in Ryan Place said, "There's nothing more American than a hot dog and a ball game and a cold beer and your neighbors."

As fun as all of the prior festivities were, Schefler said for him the highlight was the softball game and "hopefully crushing the spirit of the opposing team."
