MANSFIELD (CBS11) - Scores of parents and student athletes showed up Saturday for physical exams in Mansfield ISD.
Several area doctors volunteer for the event to make sure almost 300 students had thorough screenings before the school year and their athletic schedules began.
Parents paid $20 for physical exams that also included heart screenings.
Dr. Jeff McDaniel is a sports physicians and one of the doctors who volunteered his time and services to screen students.
Dr. McDaniel said, "Sometimes we will pick up on medical issues that no one knew about," about the effectiveness of the physical exams.
Many parents who came out say this was an easy way on the weekend to get their kids checked out before the competition begins in just a few weeks.
LeAnne McGee said, "We all work during the week so during the weekend to do this and get them ready for school is just perfect."
