Timeline For North Texas Rain Chances
Showers and storms have been hugging the Red River mainly west of Gainesville Tuesday evening. There is a cold front moving slowly southward approaching the Red River. That has been the focus point for thunderstorms Tuesday. This front will continue to sage southward overnight and tomorrow. By tomorrow afternoon it will likely be positioned just north of the Metroplex. This will lead to a few scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day on Wednesday.
Below is a forecast model's interpretation of where the rain will be located over the next 48 hours.
Wed 2am - Isolated showers.
Wed 8am - Isolated showers mainly along the Red River, but a few may be closer to DFW. Coverage low.
Wed 2pm - Cold front sags closer to DFW. A few scattered showers and storms possible. Coverage still low around 20%
Wed 4pm - Best rain chance will be north of I-30 and especially closer to Red River. Coverage around 30%.
Wed 7pm - Isolated showers still possible again mainly north.
Wed 9pm - Most rain tapering off as the sun goes down.
Thur 7am - Scattered showers maybe an isolated storm for the morning commute. 30% Rain chance.
Thur Noon - This model is showing pretty good coverage of rain Thursday at noon. I don't think it will be that high but 30% to maybe 40% of us may see rain during the midday hours on Thursday.
Thur 5pm - Scattered showers and storms still possible with rain chances at 30%.
Thu 9pm - Any rain in the area should come to an end around sunset or shortly after. So right now looking good for Addison Kaboom Town.
