Heat Wave Takes a Hit, Gets Back Up

A weak frontal boundary remains at our southwest corner, from Waco over to Graham. An outflow boundary from the west has run into it. This has helped generate storms well to the west and southwest of DFW that should continue to sundown. Around the metro afternoon sun has produced some clouds, a remnant from yesterday's rain. Highs are creeping into the upper 90's.

For the work week ahead the piercing stare of summer heat returns its uncomfortable gaze to these lands.  Thoughts linger on Saturday's rain and clouds having seen that a strong north blow can bring this bully heat to its knees even if only for a day. The August round is close to halfway done yet a moment of vulnerability has been exposed for the Heat Wave of 2011. Its left/right  of heat/drought (the driest six months ever for the Lone Star state, the hottest July ever) is no match to the changing sun angle as measured by the Gregorian calendar. Last nights full moon dropped below the horizon this early morning to start a day two minutes shorter than the day before. The sun's gaze shortens by the day, the seasons always win.

A good idea to keep in mind as decent rain chances are again pushed aside by high pressure building in from the west. Saturday's downpour dumped sufficient moisture into the system to keep clouds around as well as small rain chances for late Monday/early Tuesday. However hot and dry is this summer's show and its back for a return engagement. This run likely goes into next weekend as we rack up 100 degree days and 80 degree lows. We'll include a small store chance for Friday (20%) as a weak shows just to our west to help stir up the little moisture that is around.

The Three Day Forecast:

Monday: Partly Cloudy, Hi: 101, Wind East 5-10

Monday Night: 20% storm chance, low 81

Tuesday: Partly Cloudy, Hi: 103

Wednesday: Mostly Sunny, Hi: 104

Climate Prediction keeps dry weather around for the second half of the month (everything in tan means a chance of below normal rainfall). Not much relief for the water supply anytime soon:
